Grey's Anatomy has the ability to bring is to tears, give us a reality check, and even sometimes make us want to throw something at the TV. Despite the fact that some unreal things have happened over the show's 13 seasons, there are some lines that really hit home and inspire audiences to reflect on what life has to offer. Here are eight lines from Grey's Anatomy to help you keep your New Year in check, and maybe even act as a resolution. Because who needs the typical weight loss one anyway?

1. Cristina's commitment to self.

You CAN do this. Just because we all were waiting for 2016 to be over so 2017 could be better and it didn't necessarily turn out that way, it doesn't mean you can't be your number one cheerleader as we move into 2018.

2. Mark's message of love.

You never know what tomorrow will bring. So do the scary thing. Tell people how you feel. Allow yourself the chance to be hurt or to be loved. You'll learn from it either way.

3. Alex's urge to actually jump the gun.

Why spend 2018 worrying when you could be doing?

4. Amelia's "unstoppable" mantra.

Dare to be extraordinary. Dare to do the things everyone else is shying away from. Dare to be the light in the dark.

5. Callie's call to keep on going.

Why let the bad things keep you down? Let's be real. We've been doing that for two years. 2018 is the time to take action.

6. April's optimistic outlook.

Don't give up. Plain and simple.

7. Derek's dose of truth.

You're never going to be perfect. So strive to be the best version of yourself and share that with the world.

8. And finally, Meredith's call to happiness.

In 2018, allow yourself to be loved. Allow yourself to be happy. And let it be that simple.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
