Why We All Need A Little 'Grey's Anatomy' In Our Lives

Like any other college student, I spend most of my time with friends studying, sleeping, or eating. But also like any other student, I like my alone time in my room, with my laptop open and my headphones in my ears all while watching Netflix.

There are so many humorous and entertaining shows on Netflix. I could not begin to tell you how many shows I have watched so far and just how many shows I plan on binge-watching in the upcoming year. Right now, I am currently at the end of Season 2 of the well-known drama, “Grey’s Anatomy.” This show has become my current guilty pleasure. (Hello, Patrick Dempsey!)

When I had finished "Gossip Girl" a few weeks ago, I felt lost. "Gossip Girl" had emotionally destroyed me, and I felt my life was over. It was really all I talked about. Seriously, ask my roommate, she can vouch for me. When it was over, I realized I needed a new show on Netflix that would “ruin my life.” Many of my friends who have watched “Grey’s Anatomy” had suggested I started the 11-season series. At first, I was very hesitant. I was never really one for medical dramas or the whole hospital shebang. I did not take any of my friend’s suggestions, therefore I was struggling to find a new, decent show. With all luck failed, I had finally given in after seeing so many tweets and Tumblr posts about this show. If it’s so popular, it really must be worth watching, I thought.

Two weeks later, and I am almost on Season 3. (Thank you, winter break, for leaving me no obligations to leave my house for.) "Grey’s Anatomy" is really a lot more than I expected it to be. Ellen Pompeo stars as Meredith Grey, daughter of famous surgeon, Ellis Grey. Meredith follows her mother’s footsteps, by aspiring to become a successful surgeon at Seattle Grace Hospital, like her mother was. Starting out as an intern at the hospital, Meredith meets other interns that end up being her best friends, all with the same dream. Meredith and the others work under the eyes of the Dr. Derek Shepherd (Dempsey), Dr. Preston Burke, Dr. Addison Shepherd, and Dr. Miranda Bailey. These doctors train and push the interns to the edge all while prepping them for the real world of medicine and surgery. The personal lives of the interns and surgeons intertwine, creating suspenseful family and relationship issues throughout every season.

These heartwarming characters you meet in this show will keep you wanting more. First aired in 2005 and finishing its run in 2016, "Grey’s Anatomy" leaves us with laughter, tears, and brokenhearted memories as the characters come and go.

I highly suggest you tune into "Grey’s Anatomy" if you ever find yourself struggling to find a new show on Netflix. You definitely will not regret it!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
