So I am currently in my hometown of Camden, South Carolina. I was in Greenwood for a year at Lander and have noticed some things very interesting about both. They both are extremely different from each other in four ways.
So, the very first thing I noticed when I got home is the fact that Greenwood has a ton of different things going on in the city. In Camden, it is nothing but restaurants and houses. Greenwood has restaurants, places to shop, and different stores that sell different things in it. It is also home to my second home: Lander University.
Another thing is the fact that everyone in Greenwood has a more open-minded and positive attitude about the people around them. Camden is a small city, but nobody knows each other and it is very badly taken care of. This is a major difference if you think about how bad Greenwood roads are. Then, you have Camden roads which are actually a little worse. Trust me when I say, I would rather be driving on Greenwood roads than Camden roads.
The next thing is the simple fact that Greenwood is a bigger city than Camden. Camden is the oldest Midlands city, but it is way too small for me to live in. It feels like a retirement home that was made into an actual city. Things here are weird and is literally a repeat of the day before. Greenwood, on the other hand, is a somewhat big city and can actually be very good for just walking around, meeting new people, and feeling safe going around the city. Camden not so much. There are shady people here and it is really unsafe to walk anywhere here.
The final thing is the fact that my heart was taken by Greenwood just for being an amazing city. Greenwood is the place I have decided to live at when I get older. It is way better than a city where there is practically nothing to do. Greenwood is great and can really be an excellent way to connect with different people just around you. And the fact that Lander University is actually an amazing school does not hurt either.
Greenwood is overall better than Camden and not just because of those reasons. And the fact that I love it does not hurt either.
