Who wants to spend $25 on lunch when you don’t even get to enjoy your meal? During your breaks during the school day you are usually either rushing to your next class or hustling back to the library to finish an assignment. And hello?! We are college students which means a large majority of us are on a budget. Dining in Manhattan can get very expensive, very quickly. This is guide to a few places around campus that are relatively cheap, but still majorly tasty.

Banter

169 Sullivan St,

New York, NY 10012

Banter is one of my favorite places to go on campus when I actually have time to sit down and eat at a resturant. This casual cafe’s warm interior and delicious food are perfect for when you want to grab a few friends in between classes for a quick catch-up. Also, you can get the perfect snap for your next instagram post with Banter's colorful cuisine.

Recommended: Nutella French Toast ($14) or Bacon and Egg Roll ($10)

Eva’s Kitchen

11 W 8th St

New York, NY 10011

This is one of my consistent go-tos when I am in a rush. The food is healthy and their are plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians. After a workout at 404, this is the spot to get a good wrap or salad post-workout.

Recommended: Falafel with Baba Ghanoush Sandwich ($7.45) or Mediterranean Burrito ($10.00)

Pokée

121 W 3rd St,

New York, NY 10012

One of the best Pokée spots in the city is nestled in Greenwich Village. Pokée can often be found with crowded lines, but is often quick and well worth any of the waiting time. This is the perfect spot if you are looking for something healthy that you can take on the go!

Recommended: Fifty 50 Bowl (Regular $10.75) or Tofu Bowl (Regular $10.75)

Tue Thai

3 Greenwich Ave

New York, NY 10014

This no-frills thai restaurant will leave you feeling satisfied. For only $9.09 everyday between the time of 11:30am to 4pm, you can enjoy their lunch special which includes salad or soup, drink, appetizer and entrée. It isn’t too busy around lunchtime, meaning that it is optimal spot if you are on a tight schedule.

Recommended: Tamarind Sesame Chicken ($9.09, apart of the special) or Massaman Curry ($9.09, apart of the special)

Goa Taco

79 Delancey St.,

New York, NY 10002

The fusion of Mexican and Indian food sounds like an odd combination, but is extremely delicious! These are not traditional tacos, but pack a punch when it comes to flavor. These tacos are unbelievably filling and are only $7! You must try Goa Taco if you find yourself wandering East Village during one of your breaks!

Recommended: Slow Roasted Pork Belly (7.35) or Paneer Cheese (7.35)

Happy eating!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
