Being Green Bay Girl In A Seattle World

When I made the decision to attend Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, I did not think twice about the fact that I was near the home of the Seattle Seahawks. And being a Green Bay Packers fan, I feel a little out of place to say the least.

My late grandfather raised me to be a Cheesehead from the moment I understood football. Now I have no connection to the city of Green Bay or even the state of Wisconsin, and growing up in Sacramento, California, I always got hate for not being a San Fransisco 49ers or Oakland Raiders fan (but those two teams were never that great so nobody really cared all that much.) But since moving to the Pacific Northwest, its easily noticeable that people up here take their Seahawks football seriously.

I'm surrounded by blue, grey, and green everywhere I look. From the local Target that sells anything Seahawks related to Sundays in the dining area that is filled with the sounds of the game playing on the big screen. Sundays are a day of bravery, a day for me to wear my jersey proudly, no matter the outcome of the game.

The rivalry between the two teams has reached a new height this season, and since Green Bay hasn't been doing so hot this year, I've received many comments about my choice in team. But all I can do is wear my green and gold proudly and brag that Green Bay took the W against those dirty birds this year.

GO Pack GO!

People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
