I Went Greek And You Should Too
Chandler Smith

The school year is quickly approaching and many recent high school graduates are deciding to go Greek or not. There may even people that have been in college for a year or two and are just now thinking about going Greek. I personally did not go Greek until my junior year of college, so if you're thinking it's too late for you, it's not. Yes, at some schools it's harder to get a bid if you are older but it is not impossible.

I had no idea what Greek life was until the end of my senior year of high school. It wasn't until then I thought Greek life could be for me. I wanted to do it right out of high school but I went to a junior college first. Once I got to a University I was nervous about going through recruitment being much older than the majority the girls going through but I pushed through those nerves and I did it anyways. Going Greek was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Here are just a few of the reasons I went Greek and you should too.

Philanthropy

Before I went through recruitment I researched all the philanthropies for each of the sororities at my school. It was fun learning about each of them and seeing what cause each sorority is passionate about. There is so much passion inside the Greek community for each chapters philanthropy. We are passionate about our own chapters philanthropyand for helping other chapters on our campus with theirs as the do for us, too. Knowing how much you can give back to those around you is an amazing feeling.

Community

Greek life is a huge community and helps you make connections. It is a great way to network and meet people that could eventually hire you one day. You get to be apart of the Greek life community on your campus and outside your campus. Greek life is a great way to make friends and make connections.

Sisterhood/Botherhood

This is a huge reason I went Greek and most other people did too. I wanted to be apart of something bigger than myself and have a sisterhood for life. It really is true what they say, "It's not just four years, it's for life." The automatic bond I have with a complete stranger that shares the same letters as me is and indescribable feeling. Having over 100 girls in my chapter that I get to call my sisters is something that is hard to understand until you experience. Whether it's now or 10 years down the road I know my sisters always have my back. Who else can say they know over 100 people that would be there for them at the drop of a hat? It's a bond that is forever unbreakable.

These are just a few of the reasons I decided to go Greek. There are so many more amazing things about Greek life. If you are considering going Greek, do it It was one of the best decisions I made and it will be one of yours too. I could not imagine my life without my sisters and you won't be able to either.

Go Greek!

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
