Every week we choose one student in Georgia Southern's Greek community who exemplifies Greek ideals. It is important to us that we celebrate the great people that build us up, and show off their talents. This week, our Greek of the Week is Alex Goff, who is a junior member of Tau Kappa Epsilon.
Tau Kappa Epsilon embodies men of love, charity, and esteem along with supporting core values such as integrity, honesty, and patience. Every man of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity is expected to go above and beyond the expectations of our fellow brothers, and Alex Goff makes leaps and bounds to set himself apart.
Goff became involved with TKE in the spring of 2013 when a couple of friends began to revive the defunct fraternity. "I liked their vision for creating a group of men who strive for acceptance, achievement, and brotherhood and I quickly joined," Goff said.
He went on to become quite an active member in the organization. He led multiple committees in the fraternity, was an IFC delegate for spring '14, and participated as treasurer of the fraternity for a year. Goff maintained all of this while managing his school work, and also holding down a fantastic job at Orbx Simulation Systems, where he is a flight simulations developer.
Men of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity are lead to be better men who will build a better world. This is what, in the end, also spoke to me. TKE strives to enrich the men in its bonds and hold the core values to heart. I never thought I would join a fraternity, but to see the members strive to better themselves is truly inspiring. To see Goff excel and embody the ideals we all hold is truly meaningful, and it makes the experience worthwhile for me.
So, thank you, Alex Goff, for everything you do. Here at The Odyssey, we wish you the best of luck and encourage you to keep exemplifying the Greek community's values!
