Greek life may seem complicated to someone on the outside, but once you are in, you understand how much it actually shapes us.

You value friendships much more.

When you are in Greek life, you may have many friends in other sororities or fraternities. This makes it much more difficult to spend time with them, due to the different schedules and friends. This teaches you to value your friendship much more and to make time for the other person.

Prepares you for your career.

Being in a sorority or fraternity, you can take on many different positions, including being in charge of small things, or even taking on an executive position. These positions can honestly prepare you a lot for the real world and can look very good on resumes in the future.

Builds character.

There are many things that we go through in greek life, including some very stressful occasions. Recruitment is a very stressful time of the year. Four days of countless, stressful hours of hard work and concentration all to recruit girls and guys for the following year. During these times, we build character, and learn how to stay strong even when things do get very tough.

You learn how to time-manage.

In the future, we need to learn how to manage important topics like work, bills, stress, and other things. So many things are going on in college that time managing is not an option. We learn to balance it all without even noticing it, and being involved in so much helps us in the long run.

Creates unforgettable memories.

When the going gets tough in a few years, we will all have something to look back on and smile. We even have a ton of people that we could call if we needed someone as well. Connections, friends, and old memories are right there for you, always.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
