When you start to join a sorority you think it's going to be just like the movies, and I'm sure when you think the word sorority/fraternity, you think parties and going to get drunk every Thursday night but it's not that at all. When in reality it's all about the relationships you're making.
When you make relationships through Greek life, these aren’t just a come and go kind of relationships, these are the thickest relationships you will ever come across. Just like when I need someone and my parents are an hour away, the bible study group-me because you need the most emotional support you can get for some things.
Throughout the first semester of being apart of the Greek community, I have learned more about being prosper and loving people with every being of your heart. When you join and they start to influence you and your life, you feel a whole new type of love for sisters that you never had before. Greek life shows you a different aspect on yourself also, between the community service hours we have to complete, to the national philanthropies that we have to put work and dedication into.
When you're apart of something like this, you're not "paying for your friends”, you’re choosing sisters you want at your wedding. We spent a week with these people narrowing down who you want to go through your college career with and let me just say it's a tough decision going into the last few days, but when you open that bid day card you feel your heart fill with absolute love.
Being apart of a sorority is a family away home when we need someone to lean on. After only spending a semester with each other, we make sure to text each other every day and keep our snap streaks counting down the days until we see each other again. My sisters are my family and I wouldn’t trade them for the world.
