The Greek Life Dictionary For Non-Greeks

As a non-sorority girl, I often find myself completely lost when my frat and sorority friends start talking greek. If you can relate, here is a little cheat sheet to bring to your girlfriends DP!

1. Date party (DP)

Date parties are usually held in bars, and members bring dates with them. Not to be confused with...

2. Formal

Similar to date parties, but a little more fancy. There is usually dinner. Think prom.

3. Themed gathering (TG)

Ya know the Instagram pics where everyone is in a wig? Or dressed like they're from the 70's? Yeah, that's a TG.

4. Chapter

Chapter is just a meeting where all of the members meet and discuss the happenings of the srat.

5. Pledges & potential new members (PNM)

I don't want to get into rushing and recruitment BUT know that pledges are dudes trying to get into a frat, and PNMs are girls trying to get into a sorority.

6. Two way/mixer

This is when a sorority and a frat have an event together.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.
