I had a terrible gut feeling when I was signing up for recruitment. I was worried that I was going to be changed for the worse, but I was wrong! Going Greek is the best choices I've made in my life so here are five pointers if you're feeling a bit nervous about rushing.
1.You will meet new faces - during and after recruitment.

If you love meeting new people, Greek life is the place for it! When I was going through recruitment, I made new friends in my pi chi group, and ended up befriending most of their pledge class in another sorority! After recruitment I had to meet 200+ new faces with my pledge class included!
2. They are amazing starters to the workforce.

Greek life is filled with leadership opportunities, which is amazing to your resume. But helping your sorority/fraternity raise thousands to your charity by selling food/gifts/etc. at philanthropy events, attending academic events, and even having connections from many, many other sisters will help you land a job later on.
3. Your older sisters become the plugs for everything college.

Through joining a sorority/fraternity, you have access to upperclassmen who would be more than happy to help you with all of your college needs. Older sisters/brothers will help you sign up with the right class for your major, show you around your college town when you're not familiar, and most importantly help you with all your struggles in college.
4. You can finally wave your anti-social life good-bye!

When I was in high school, unless it was school events I did not have a lot going on with my social life. Now, being in a sorority enables me to go outside my friend group in high school. I also meet others in different Greek life organizations through my sorority socials and Greek events. Plus, I highly recommend going to sisterhood events and socials as they are a great opportunity to get out the dorm/house and go to places.
5. You will experience true friendship.

When I met my Big, I became the happiest girl on Earth. She listens to my rants, my exciting stories, things I crave, and the list goes on and on. In a sorority/fraternity, you will find people who will love you for who you are. They will keep you in a great mood; they will comfort you when you are down and will gas the heck out of you when you are trying to show off your look!
I love being in a sorority, and I hope you love being in your sorority/fraternity too! As long as you are careful going through recruitment and end up going to a place that feels like home — whether if it's from Bid Day or whether you are contemplating on dropping three months later. Greek life changed me for the better.
