This article is part of the GOAT series, and so far we have covered EDGE, DT, Offensive Player, TE, WR, RB, and QB lists, which can all be found at their respective links.
Ah, the Linebacker position. Linebacker is perhaps the hardest position to play, and evaluate, in football because it requires players who can cover like a corner, read the defense like a safety, blitz like an EDGE, and stop the run like a defensive tackle. They usually have to do all of that while playing "quarterback" of the defense and being an overall leader of the team.
These ten players all had the ability to do all of the above at the highest level, but only one can be the GOAT. So the next question is who's the GOAT?
*Note: Lawrence Taylor, Derrick Thomas, Derrick Brooks, and Kevin Greene are all classified under EDGE for the sake of this series. As outside linebackers, they played the EDGE role far more than the role of a traditional linebacker.
