Christmas is only weeks away, but in the hectic, busy schedule of our college lives, the Christmas spirit is the furthest thing from our minds. Now that finals are over, it’s time to start enjoying your holidays. These movies are guaranteed to give you Christmas cheer.
1. "Home Alone"
This classic turns twenty-five-years-old this year. The comedy will make you laugh out loud, feel grateful that you’re family never forgot you when they went on vacation, and wonder how eight-year-old Kevin is smarter than you’ll ever be.
2. "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer"
Honestly, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus are really annoying in this movie, but the songs make up for it. Also, Hermey, Rudolph, and Cornelius’ friendship is pure GOLD, and a reminder that you’ll always have someone who appreciates your quirks.
3. "Miracle on 34th Street"
I’m talking about the 1947 version, not the 1994 version (I’ve never seen it, although I’m sure it’s great). A movie about Kris Kringle taking a job at Macy’s? Perfect.
4. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
Both versions are great. The animated one reinforces the idea that Christmas is about more than just gift-giving, but the 2000 version highlights the same ideas but in a funnier way. The Grinch’s lines are quotable all year long.
5. "It’s a Wonderful Life"
Another oldie, but a goodie. It’s a nice pick-me-up movie if you’re ever feeling down about yourself.
6. "Elf"
Will Ferrell is perfect and watching his misfortunes as an elf are guaranteed to make you laugh out loud.
7. "Polar Express"
This movie has what every Christmas movie needs: Tom Hanks and Steven Tyler. Seriously, this movie will make you believe in the magic of Christmas for just a little while longer.
8. "A Christmas Story"
A perfect family comedy. Ralphie and his family’s misfortunes are so relatable. After watching it, you'll never pronounce "fragile" right again.
9. "A Charlie Brown Christmas"
It’s not Christmas until you’ve seen "A Charlie Brown Christmas." It’s just short, sweet, and uplifting.
