The Fourth of July has always been my absolute favorite holiday. Even when I was a little kid, when they asked us at school what our favorite holiday was, while everyone else chimed out “Christmas,” or “Halloween,” mine has always been Independence Day. It’s my favorite time for many reasons, but I think the main reason I have always loved the holiday so much is because of how it pulls everyone in our country together. On this one day, no matter our differences, we are all united in our love for this great nation and everything it stands for. So, for this weeks article I decided to compile a list of some of my favorite “America” or “Independence Day” songs.
All lyrics are credited back to the original singer, and links to each song can be found within this article. Photos are also linked back to their original creator.

"There's a lady that stands in a harbor for what we believe
And there's a bell that still echoes the price that it cost to be free”
‘God Bless the U.S.A.’ by Lee Greenwood
“And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA”
‘Only in America’ by Brooks and Dunn
“Only in America, Dreamin' in red white and blue
Only in America, Where we dream as big as we want to
We all get a chance
Everybody gets to dance, Only in America”

“From the mountains down to the sea
You've become such a habit with me America, America”
‘Courtesy, of the Red, White, and Blue’ by Toby Keith

And the Statue of Liberty, Started shakin' her fist”
‘Ragged Old Flag’ by Johnny Cash
“She’s been burned, dishonored, denied an’ refused
And the government for which she stands, Has been scandalized throughout out the land
And she’s getting thread bare, and she’s wearin’ thin.
But she’s in good shape for the shape she’s in
‘Cause she’s been through the fire before, And I believe she can take a whole lot more”
‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ by John Denver
'Almost heaven, West Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there Older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, Blowing like a breeze”
‘Color Me America’ by Dolly Parton (aka the Queen)
“I am red, and white, and blue
These are the colors that ring true
To all I am, and feel, and love, and do
I stand proud, and brave, and tall
I want justice for us all
So color me America, red, white, and blue”
