The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze is a huge event that takes place in Sleepy Hallow, NY on the Van Cortlandt Manor. This event includes thousands of hand-carved pumpkins that light up and have different designs. I have known about this event for about a year and when me and my friends wanted to go and experience it, tickets were sold out. The blaze sells out extremely fast because of how popular it is. This year we decided to get tickets much earlier, and ended up actually getting them. Here is my experience in the Blaze.

Me and my best friend, Alisa, were super excited to be able to finally see The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze and see what the hype of it was about. The drive was not so far from our house about an hour and thirty minutes, and it went by quickly because of all the talking. Flash forward to us getting there and parking, we are greeted with a huge glow in the dark sign that read the words, "Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze." I began to feel more excited as we walked closer to the entrance.

When we got inside, we automatically ended up in the gift shop. It was a beautiful gift shop that featured night-light gorgeous lanterns, statues of the headless horseman which the town of Sleepy Hallow is known for and cute food made with pumpkin. After passing the gift shop we entered a small area where you can buy food and eat/drink as you walk through the pumpkin garden. They served drinks and food like hot chocolate, apple cider, beer, donuts, pumpkin pie, brownies and much more. We decided to skip it for later, and kept walking. This is when we finally got our tickets scanned and our experience had began.

Immediately I saw a humongous bridge make out of pumpkins that was lit up and It was the most beautiful design I have ever seen. We took loads of pictures and kept walking. People were all over the place taking pictures but it was basically one line walking down the trail. Some other designs we saw were carvings of the Salem witches, dinosaurs, a dragon, skeletons, a train, the headless Horseman and I even saw a pumpkin with the design of a character from "Orange Is the New Black." I won't give too much away in case you might want to check it out but just know how breath-taking the garden is.

I have no complaints about this phenomenal experience. I highly recommend making a visit. The event runs from September until the end of November, so there is still some time to get tickets! You can bring whomever you choose, this event is family-friendly, fun for friends, or can be a romantic stroll through an alluring pumpkin-lantern garden.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
