We all love a great book here and there, and I can not say that I am any different. I love to read, but sometimes, it is just so much easier to watch something on Netflix and not have to even think. While this can be true, I find that pulling out a good book is the best way to pass the time. Whether you are doing summer classes, have a summer job, or are just relaxing, here is a list of great books to pass your free time this summer.
The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend
By: Katarina Bivald
This is a book that I randomly picked up because the plot sounded so interesting, and then put off reading way too long. A fantastic book about a young girl traveling to the United States to visit her pen pal, only to discover that her pen pal passed away! The book follows her life and how she deals with the death of her friend, in a town called Broken Wheel. Great read!
How to Make an American Quilt
By: Whitney Otto
Many of us have seen the movie, which is another great thing to see, but the book speaks volumes about life, love, and so much more. Pulling together the stories of each character like the scraps of fabric that pull together a beautiful quilt, this book moved me and changed how I saw so much.
Stop Dressing your Six Year Old like a Skank
By: Celia Rivenbark
Good old southern fried comedy, raising children, buying houses, and going to Disney World. Its a great laugh, and something very light and fantastic for the summertime. Reminds everyone to look on the funny side of everything, and not be so serious.
Safe Haven
By; Nicholas Sparks
No summer reading list is complete without a Sparks novel. This is one of my favorites, only beat them out on this list because this one is not as depressing as some of Spark's works. The story of a girl trying to start over, but falling in love and having to relive her past.
The Help
By: Kathryn Stockett
While this came out a while ago, many of my friends have yet to read this book! I love this book because it not only shows a time period I love, but it shows others fighting for equality in a time that it was not always there. Its a great read, that especially when I need it, restores faith in humanity.
