Gratitude Is The Best Attitude

There is so much to be thankful for.

Lately I've been thinking more about the wonderful things in my life and how I am so fortunate. As millennials, we have been brought up in a world that seemingly wants us to focus on ourselves and we sometimes forget to think outside ourselves. I have always found that gratitude is the best attitude and when I remind myself that I have so much to be thankful for, I feel better, more humbled and have a more positive outlook on life.

Don't ever forget to be thankful for the little things in life when you are having a bad day. Here are 10 things to be thankful for on a daily basis that we make take for granted sometimes:

1. Air to breathe

2. Good health

3. Family

4. Friends

5. Freedom

6. A job

7. Clothes

8. Power of communication

9. Electricity

10. Running water

Think about those things for a minute. Also, not only should we be thankful for these things, but we should thank others when they do things for us. Not just in the sense of when someone gets you coffee in the morning, but really thank them in the most appreciative way possible. Showing gratitude to someone for helping you learn a new skill, or to a friend who has always had your back could make their day. I find writing helps me get out what I truly need to tell someone. A handwritten thank you note goes so far.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
