Dear readers: I created this 10 day challenge about some of the core values I admire in people. Each day I will be writing about a new different value.

Today is Day 6 and the value today is: Contentment

10 traits of a content person

  • 1.He is grateful for all the blessings he has.

  • 2.He tries to see the good in situations.

He understands that hard situations sometimes help us grow.


  • 3.He has patience with himself and others.

  • 4.He has endurance.
  • He knows that a good attitude can help him overcome obstacles.

  • 5.He appreciates the small things.

He stops to look at the flowers, bees and appreciates other simple blessings in life.



  • 6.He is in touch with his emotions.
  • He doesn't allow his emotions to overwhelm him.

  • 7.He doesn't strive for perfectionism.

He knows that it is okay to be good enough.


  • 8.He accepts where he is in life right now.

He has goals and looks forward to the future but he also enjoys where he is now.


  • 9.He is mindful.

He appreciates the present moment.


  • 10.He has faith in the future.

Having faith in the future helps him enjoy the now.


Contentment Activity: What can you do today to work on this value?

Some ideas include: Meditating, enjoying a nice meal slowly, thinking of 15 things you are grateful for now.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
