October is finally here!!!
Which means Halloween lovers everywhere can finally let their freak flag fly.
But it also means we have to wait until the last thirteen days of October to see the good Halloween movies on Freeform.
And if you're as busy as I am, then you'll probably end up missing a lot of them anyway.
But if you're looking for something to get you into the Halloween spirit while you're on the run here are some graphic novels that are quick reads and will definitely get you in the spirit:1. Nightmares and Fairy Tales by Serena Valentino
Spooky twists on beloved fairy tales, this graphic novel follows a doll named Annabelle who is aware of her existence. However every owner that Annabelle has ever had has come to a tragic demise or has had something terrible happen to them. We follow Annabelle’s journey living with Snow White and see a twisted take on the classic tale. This novel has beautiful illustration, and will definitely get you in the season’s spirit with it’s constant horror filled twists and turns.
2. Courtney Crumin by Ted Naifeh
Sassy one-liners and constant grumbling are just a few things that make the Courtney Crumrin series great. After moving to a new town to live with her great Uncle Aloysius she discovers some rather unusual books on witchcraft. Soon she finds out that her new town isn’t as boring as she thought. Did I mention the artwork is down right breath- taking?
3. Deepest Darkest Fears by Fran Krause
A book completely about fears that people have confessed at one point or another, what could get you more in the Halloween spirit? This book has fears ranging from silly, like the one most people have of letting a body part hang off their bed while they sleep, to down right scary. Probably one of the more mind melting ones that makes you really think involves believing one is in a coma and that their life has been a dream. My only recommendation is that you don’t read this one too late at night.
4. Anya's Ghost by Vera Brosgol
Anya is your average teenage girl trying to fit in at school. It doesn't make it easy that everyone views her as weird because of her Russian heritage. Things change for Anya when she falls down a well and meets a girl named Emily that died there years ago. Although hesitant at first Anya becomes fast friends with Emily, but soon things begin to change. As things begin to shift in their relationship making Anya question Emily's true intentions.
