Since the beginning of my life, there have been three people who have never stopped supporting me. They are my heroes. Having three grandparents to live life with has been the biggest blessing. We expect them to be there always, but we never stop to say thank you.

I am blessed to have two grandparents living across town from me. They are my constant support system. As children, my brother and I would travel up and down the East Coast with them. We learned about manatees and space when we visited the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. We learned about our government and toured the monuments when we visited our Nation's capital. We learned about our Founding Father's and their fight for freedom when we visited Philadelphia.

My papa, being retired Air Force, has taken us to multiple air shows — too many to count. We learned about aviation and the Wright brothers when we visited Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills. From an early age, I admired their knowledge and passion for the country. Since then, their house has become my hotel, laundromat, and hospital. They have been my personal chauffeurs and chefs, my caretakers, and my best friends.

My other grandmother lives two states away, so I do not get to see her as often. When I do see her she makes you feel right at home. She lives in a little country town and her house is surrounded by fields. I remember playing in the cotton fields and on the dirt road. My Mimi's house is the perfect halfway spot to spend the night when traveling from LSU back to NC.

She is always so gracious in letting me stay there whenever I am passing through. She always has a pantry full of snacks to take on the road. She will always be there at the drop of a hat. Several years ago I had surgery, and I woke up to my Mimi being there at the hospital. She is only one call away.

All 3 of my grandparents have a heart of gold and serve the Lord with every ounce of it. They have been there to support me financially and cover me in prayer. I am so thankful for their wisdom and guidance. I am thankful that they have chosen to be active members of my life instead of just standing on the sidelines. They love they give to everyone they meet is radical and inspiring. Thank you for being my heroes.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
