An open letter to my Grandlittle

To My Grandlittle That Became So Much More

Dear G,

When we first met, I knew for a fact we would hit it off. First of all, you had the longest, healthiest looking blonde hair of anyone I had ever met, which was just super impressive. Second of all, you weren't shy in the slightest. Third, you thought my jokes were funny and you had an infectious laugh. I knew that you and I would become friends.

I was sitting with your big when she got the phone call that you were her little. I was ECSTATIC. My little family was growing and I had the best of the best. My mind started racing as I thought of all of the fun that we were about to have.

Fast forward a few months through formal, dinner dates, and plenty of texting and I found myself in a bit of a bind. You swooped in with a solution and we became roommates. I can honestly say that I was the best decision of my life. Sure, we worked opposite schedules and barely saw each other, but the time we did see each other was full of laughter, venting, and lots of Veronica Mars.

I feared that after graduation we would lose touch, but you are honestly one of the only people that I keep in contact with. I know that I can text you about literally anything and you will either have advice, think I'm hilarious, or completely agree that what happened is ridiculous. We don't have to see each other that often to be able to remain close, either. Once or twice a month is all we need to catch up, play with my puppers, and maybe pretend to be adults by making some food.

You are genuinely one of my favorite people on the face of the earth. You make me laugh, calm me down, and I know that no matter what, you are always going to be there for me. I am so beyond lucky to have you in my life and I truly do not know what I would do without you.

I love you to the moon and back.

Love always,

Your G.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
