You did your best with what you were given; you created the tools of fortune and living.
You wanted the most, the best, and the greatest for the ones that you've been given,
With hard work and God’s abundance in blessing, you did your best created a living.
From young little boy delivering milk to young little man traveling door to door, you and your efforts, courage and ambition, never lack of negligence, to serve like a mission, determined and ready, you kept on climbing and reaching and wanting the most.
You saw what you had and all you've been blessed,
You wanted the more and you wanted the best.
Young beautiful wife and four little children,
you did your best to create a living.
From the scrapes of nothing you created something,
the lasting ambition remains in our bloodline.
I see what hard work and great love can produce,
I see the lasting love of the both of you.
I've been given this man to rely and to love,
and although we're quite different we laugh and I know:
I will never forget the songs that we sing, the jokes and the nicknames,
and the tricking and tease.
The compassion and generosity you kindly give away,
I know I will never forget that one day.
We all must pretend you can walk through the walls,
are the greatest composer, and can talk foreign laws.
Grandpa, I love you and I hope that you know:
the person, the grandfather, the spirit you are, generation to generation your love will fulfill. The love you've instilled will be passed on along, forever and always we’ll sing your song.
