As a college student, I'm constantly on the lookout for cute study nooks to escape the dreary campus. Over the past semester, my friends and I have been venturing out and visiting multiple coffee shops to try to make studying slightly less terrible. This past weekend we visited Lyon Street Café, located on (surprise) Lyon Street in Grand Rapids, and would definitely recommend this spot to others.
With a lot of natural light in the café, the atmosphere is bright and welcoming. It isn't the biggest space, but the setup gives it a spread-out feel, with large wooden tables (plenty of space to spread out your eight textbooks you need to read by tomorrow). Right when you walk in, there is a line of freshly made deserts, with a cute handwritten chalk menu in the center of the wall that would make any Pinterest-er smile. The aesthetic of this coffeeshop alone would make me want to return to study or catch up with some old friends. While my small college budget didn't allow me to purchase any deserts, the coffee at Lyon Street Café was amazing. I personally love coffee, and it's always a great day when I can have one that isn't from the dining hall. The coffee here is on the pricey side, so I wouldn't recommend coming here regularly, however, the price is worth it, especially if you plan on staying in the store for a few hours. I wish I had a picture of my latte to display in this article, but I drank it too quickly and remembered too late to take a picture. For anyone interested in giving Lyon Street Café a try, I would recommend the café mocha or an iced vanilla latte. For a sweet escape from campus, or just a day out with friends and family, Lyon Street Café is definitely a spot you should try out if you enjoy coffee, deserts, and an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere.
