Grand Prix Week As Told By "The Office"

Little 500 was a cute warm up, but I'm talking about "The Greatest Spectacle In College Racing"

So the week of "The Greatest Spectacle in College Racing" has taken off, and Purdue's campus is officially alive...until the terrible hangovers kick in. But fear not, trips to Tri-Chi, Den Pop runs and Excedrin will have you Boilermakers on your feet and ready to take on the full week of festivities. Regardless of the pulsating headache you may have, or the sunburn you didn't expect (the UV index is at an all time high for April, and no, we're not complaining), we must all face each day to make it one brick higher than the last. What better group of people to portray what every Boilermaker goes through during the week of Grand Prix than our dear friends at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, Inc.?

1. Officially meeting your Grand Prix Buddy

2. Remembering you have an exam tomorrow.

3. When your teacher buys your vague and mostly inaccurate answer in class.

4. Trying to listen to a friend who has had 1 too many Baltimore Zoos.

5. ...After taking care of that friend.

6. For all of the lone soldiers getting 'talked' to by the cops.

7. When your hangover-recovering friends refuse to go to a function with you.

8. When your buddy invites you to darty after your last class of the day.

9. Getting shoved into a dancing circle that you have no business being involved in...in any way...at all...seriously get out of there.

10. Sleeping through all 17 alarms you had set.

11. One too many open tabs at Harry's later.

12. Reminiscing on the best week of the year and wondering how it passed so quickly.

Mom and Dad, I'm so sorry that I spent all of my tax return money on this week instead of investing in something meaningful. But these are the best four years of our lives, right? Until next year, Grand Prix.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
