Graduation is around the corner and it's important to make sure that you don't forget to preserve these memories before you take those first steps into adulthood. This graduation checklist will help you make sure you don't miss out on anything important.

1. Make sure you've applied for graduation!

I know this one seems simple, but some people don't know that you have to actually apply to receive your diploma and to participate in the commencement ceremony. Just because you've completed everything according to Degree-works, doesn't mean you'll automatically receive your diploma. You need to apply for it, and applying for your degree does not automatically sign you up for the commencement ceremony. You have to log into your oasis account to apply for graduation and you will need to go to the USF commencement website to RSVP for the ceremony.

This is the first thing you need to make sure you check off of the graduation checklist.

2. Book your photographer

You're going to want some professional photos taken and it's important to book this one early. All 2,000 plus graduates are going to be looking to get their photo shoots done around the same time. You want to make sure you give your photographer enough time to edit and get the photos back to you so you can send them out to your friends and family in your graduation announcements and invitations.

Luckily, there are some really amazing photographers who are USF students or Alumni who offer pretty good prices. You can check out Tyrah Walker, she's working on building her portfolio and is offering some amazing deals to USF students right now.

3. Order your cap and gown from the USF bookstore

Another mandatory item to check off on the graduation checklist, regalia for a Bachelors Degree is about $75. You can also check the USF Bulls Online Marketplace Facebook page to see if any alumni are selling their regalia for a cheaper price. If you don't have USF approved regalia you cannot participate in the commencement ceremony, even if you've already registered to do so.

4. Find someone to create some cool invitations

The USF bookstore offers really nice announcements for you to use. However, most people opt to send out personalized invitations that make use of those awesome pics they'd had taken. You can even create some pretty cool invitations yourself using online software like Canva.com. Make sure you consult with your family back home to make sure you don't forget anyone!

5. Plan your after-party celebration

Whether you want to go out to dinner with your family after you walk across the stage, or go out with some of your fellow graduates. Having this plan in place beforehand can really help your big day run a little smoother.

Congratulations on all that you've accomplished! Now, go show the world what it means to be a BULL!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
