I'll be the first to admit I struggled to get good grades throughout high school.I went to a school where the majority of the population got perfect grades and knew what they wanted to be when they grew up before they even began high school. This isn't a bad thing, however, I was one of those students who were the exception. When my guidance counselor told me my overall rank in my class, I literally cried. Needless to say, It was a super uncomfortable moment.
I never had a favorite subject in high school, was terrible at algebra and didn't think learning about the anatomy of a cell was cool...
High school is a time period where a huge magnitude of growth is happening. You are learning about yourself, your learning styles, hobbies, likes and dislikes, who you're going to become, and somehow they also expect you to know what you want to do for the rest of your life.
Now, In no way am I saying that education is not important! Here is what I am saying... You are brilliant, Do not ever let any teacher, student or any other individual belittle you or your confidence because you are not a perfect student. Work as hard as you can, and give it all you have got.
If you are the creative type and can't find an interest in any of your classes right now, just hang tight. Soon enough you will be able to take classes that you actually enjoy! I know, it seems crazy but it's a real thing.
Don't give up on yourself, I promise there is a world beyond those four walls. If you see other students getting straight A's without as much of a hassle as you, understand this quote by Albert Einstein...
" Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."
Let me be the first to definitively say, You do not need to be good at algebra once you graduate! Take a sigh of relief, You're going to be fine!
You will find what you are good at, you are still so young! Pay attention, work hard and make yourself proud, but if you take one thing away from this article let it be this, Your high school grades do not define your worth. You have an entire life ahead of you and you will still be successful.
If you don't believe me let me tell you this, I am now a final semester college senior and I am a straight-A student on the Dean's List and I have some of the most competive internships you can imagine on my resume because I worked hard, figured out what I was good at and didn't let my high school grades or anyone else discourage me along the way. Go after what you want and nobody can stop you.
I hope this article inspires you to do the same as I did because I believe in you!
