7 Things That Happen When You're Obsessed With Your Dog

Dogs have always been known as man's best friend. They come in all different shapes, sizes, and especially personalities. They can change your whole mood with one lick, and will always be waiting at the door to greet you. Everyone has a special connection with their dog, but some connections reach a whole different level that none can compare to. Here are a few things that are true when you are actually obsessed with your four-legged furry best friend.

1.) You can’t wear anything that doesn’t have fur as an accessory.

Lint rollers don’t help, washing and drying doesn’t work, even all of the hacks that you’ve looked up to try and get rid of those pesky hairs leaves you right back where you started, looking like a walking fuzz ball. It’s come to the point where you’ve just accepted the fact that every outfit you own is made just a bit better with a touch of your dogs own personal style.

2.) They take up a ridiculous amount of the bed, and you allow it.

You may have the smallest dog in the world, but in the middle of the night it feels like you’re sleeping with a moose. They have no idea what the word personal space really means, and tend to hog all of the covers and pillows. They take up so much space that sometimes you’re forced to the edge or even off of your bed for their comfort.

3.) You may — well, actually, you probably do — love them more than your significant other.

Sure, you love that special person in your life, but when your dog wants to be cuddled up in the middle of you two, you just can’t say no to that cute little face! The wonderful ball of fur in your life will always come before anyone else. So if that’s ever a problem and it comes down to you or my fur baby well let’s just say you better start looking for a new relationship.

4.) You are extremely protective of them.

Oh, you don’t like how my dog looks? Well, excuse me! No one asked your opinion and quite frankly, I don’t want to hear it. My perfect angel can do no wrong and is the best looking dog in the world. Sure, you may come off as an over the top, crazy dog parent, but the best thing to do is just to recognize and embrace it.

5.) Sometimes you question your sanity.

Talking to your dog is normal and all, but when they start to become the only conversations you have, you really start to question your life. Or my favorite, you start to answer your own questions as if you were your dog. You even start using the voice you imagine them having if they could actually talk. Don’t try and lie to yourself; we’ve all been guilty of it.

6.) You and your dog have special doggie dates.

Whether it means going to McDonald’s to for a burger and ice cream cone (I know that’s my fur child’s favorite) or lovely walks in the park every Friday, you never miss those special times with your furry friend. In fact, you find yourself scheduling other plans around these doggie dates.

7.) They truly are your best friend.

Even though they may not always be perfect, you can’t erase the fact that they have been with you through thick and thin. They’ve seen you laugh, cry, shared your meals, and cuddled for hours with you without any complaints. They love you with everything they have, no matter what the situation. You two have formed an inseparable bond that can’t be explained and most people don’t understand. But the best part is, no one else needs to.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
