Having been a person who's been watching YouTubers since 2007, it's fair to say that I can direct you towards the ones you should watch and the ones you should avoid. One YouTuber you need to know about is Grace Helbig. For those who frequent YouTube, this article might seem pointless because everyone knows Helbig. With almost 3 million subscribers, and a total of over 153 million views, you might say she's kind of a big deal. For those who have no idea what I am talking about, welcome to the conversation!
Helbig is known by her fans as the awkward older sister they've always wanted. Her videos are comical, sassy, and make you feel like you're there with her. Helbig started out just like most college students. She went to Ramapo College in New Jersey and worked hard to make connections. During school, she had a total of six internships and an improv club.
Helbig didn't start her YouTube career until 2007, but found huge success in the following years. After making videos with her best friend from college, she was offered a position on another channel called MyDamnChannel, which eventually changed to DailyGrace.
From 2008 to 2013, Helbig created 830 DailyGrace videos and 690 videos published exclusively on the My Damn Channel website. After leaving the channel, she decided to make her own.
She makes three videos a week on her current channel along with all her other endeavors over the years. She has her own podcast that features YouTuber's of all varieties called 'Not Too Deep'. She has also produced three different projects, one being a movie that you should definitely check out on Netflix called Camp Takota.
Helbig even had her own show on E! this year called "The Grace Helbig Show." She has also written a self-help book about adult-ing and is working on her second book, which will be released next year.
Seeing someone start out just like the rest of us and finding fame on the internet gives people like me hope. I look up to Helbig because she has done all of this before even turning 30, and has done it all on her own. I hope to be able to accomplish half of what she has in the next few years of my 20s.
Check out Grace at her Channel and be ready to feel inspired and to laugh your butt off!
