Gossip Girl VS Pretty Little Liars

The shows are eerily similar: Conspiracy or Relation?

Gossip Girl

Okay, I do understand that the PLL 'A' reveal has happened a long time ago and the wave of Gossip Girl's popularity has kind of fizzled. But I, as an avid Netflix binger and a lover of series, I have started to re-watch the Gossip Girl series. And let me tell you, the ties I have discovered between Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars make me honestly question whether or not the girls of PLL are descendants of our amazing socialites in GG.

1. Rosewood

In PLL it's the name of the quaint little town in which Aria, Emily, Hannah, Spencer and Alison all originate from. And in GG, it's the name of one of Rufus Humphrey's songs, and also the name of Lily Van Der Woodsen's horse (in this case the horse came first, then the song). So since GG is set in New York and PLL is set in Pennsylvania maybe Lily got her horse's name passing through the town of Rosewood on a family trip? Honestly, it makes sense to me.

2. The strong presence of cute, little cafes.

Both of our lovely group of teens absolutely LOVE spending time in cafes and cute little coffee shops. This may or may not be a cause of PLL descending from GG and being passed on through the generations.

3. CeCes are present in both shows.

CeCe is the name of Serena Van Der Woodsen's grandmother and also the name of Alison DiLaurentis' brother/sister/old friend/AKA 'A'. Family name? Perhaps!

4. Blonde leads mysteriously disappear then return

Okay, now the time frame of the returns between Serena of GG and Alison of PLL are a bit different. But yet again, maybe it's in the genes for them to run off. There is a striking resemblance through between the gorgeous blonde tendrils of Serena and Alison.

5. The PLL theme song makes a debut at the Debutante Ball.

Okay, I understand this is just a coincidence and a matter of songs in the soundtrack but hello!!!!! This is still totally an act of confirming the relation of GG and PLL.

6. Anonymous Tech Savvy Stalker

Both shows feature the constant presence of an all knowing anonymous narrator that is always in the know of everyone's gossip. Now in GG the presence isn't as evil and out to ruin everyone as in PLL but again, the girls of PLL were surprising calm add experienced with their techy stalker, maybe they heard stories of their New York socialite grandparents' days of fighting off a gossiping ghost.

In the end, I do understand they are just shows and all that, but you can't argue that they do have their relations that do actually make sense. And maybe 'A' is just a descendant of Gossip Girl? The world may never know.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
