What's going on in their lives?

Gossip Girl Stars: Then and Now

Ed Westwick

Then: Who doesn't remember the devilish good looks of the bad boy, Chuck Bass. Everyone loved to hate him, and hated to love him. Of course, when the series first started, I even hated him, he did unspeakable things in the first season. However, his character growth was amazing and I grew to love him.

Now: He lightened up his hair and dropped the scarf, and it's really working out for him. Even with a little scruff he still looks amazing. He starred in a failed TV show last year, and still continues to act. Keep an eye out for a new series next year, White Gold.

Taylor Momsen

Then: Who could forget a sweet face like little J from season 1. She was the most lovable character on the show for quite a while, and all she wanted was to fit in with the cool crowd. She worked so hard, just for some attention. But, she finally got that attention in the end.

Now: Little J traded her sweet looks for a darker image. She started smudging black make-up around her eyes and bleached her hair. In 2011, she quit acting to pursue music with her band, The Pretty Reckless. Her new sound is definitely not Gossip Girl-esque.

Leighton Meester

Then: Blair and Nate made the most iconic couple in the Upper East Side, they were together for years before the drama of season 1. Although, in her first appearance she still dedicated her life to Nate. She would have done anything for him.

Now: Just like Taylor Momsen, Leighton Meester started to pursue music after the end of the series, but, she still continued to act; she mainly starred in indie flicks. If you haven't already checked out her record (Heartstrings) you should check it out right now. Recently, she just had a baby with her husband, Adam Brody.

Penn Badgley

Then: I'll keep this one short and simple because if you know anything about me, you know my disdain for this character. For most of the series he pined over Serena van der Woodsen, the resident bad girl. After a while he got her, and much like Blair did with Nate, he dedicated his entire life to keeping her.

Now: Just like everyone else from the show did, Penn Badgley pursued music after the end of Gossip Girl. He is the lead singer for the indie band, MOTHXR. They're pretty cool (cooler than Dan Humphrey).

Chace Crawford

Then: The love interest of Blair, who was pining over Serena. That's it, that's all there is to Nate in season 1.

Now: Chace continued acting after Gossip Girl ended. He recently starred in a new soap opera, Blood & Oil. He continues to be every millennial's celeb crush.

Blake Lively

Then: The bad girl, and Blair's best friend was returning from a sudden departure to boarding school in episode 1. She then ran into Dan Humphrey, who for years in high school had slowly fallen in love with her (or the idea of her).

Now: If you haven't recently heard what's been going in Blake Lively's life, you probably don't own a TV, or a phone, or a computer, or have any friends. She's married to Ryan Reynolds and they just had a baby. She had one of the most flawless pregnancy bodies that Hollywood has seen.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
