Goshen, Indiana

It might be small, but that just means there will always be a familiar face to say, "Hi," to.

Growing up, Goshen seems terrible. It's small, there's no Chick-fil-a, or Chipotle or even a Panda Express. Your options on a Friday night are limited to either seeing a movie, going to a football game or basketball game (depending on the season) or going to Honey's for frozen yogurt. But leaving for college I realize, maybe Goshen isn't as bad as I always thought it was growing up.

The Chief

Not every town has a little ice cream stand that is open from May to September with ice cream as good as the chief. That little red and white building offers so many different flavors of ice cream and milkshakes that taste amazing on a hot summer day. The line might be really long but that's only because it is the best ice cream in the area.

Martin's Supermarket

Sure it's a grocery store, but the salad bar and deli has some great food you can stop in and pick up when you are in a hurry. There is also Starbucks inside of Martin's, so its totally a win-win to stop by. And odds are when you do stop b,y you'll have a friend as your cashier.

Hacienda Chips and Salsa

The food is alright but we all know the real reason everyone goes to Hacienda is for the chips and salsa. I have yet to find a restaurant that has better chips and salsa than Hacienda. The chips are warm and they keep bringing you more baskets each time you finish yours. If you want to make the salsa even better, you can ask for a bowl of ranch and then mix the salsa and ranch. It may not sound good but it taste amazing.

The Fair

Sure it might only last one week during July, but that week it gives you something else to do. For younger kids, there are all of the rides and games. When you get older, there are still great things. I mean, how can you pass up all of the deep fried fair food? You can find pretty much anything deep fried at the fair. Or other foods, like elephant ears, the little donuts, and Nelson's chicken. The fair brings good people to preform concerts throughout the week (which are free if you sit in the grands stands). Not to mention, it is also one of the biggest 4H county fairs in the country.

Authentic Mexican Food

There are so many different authentic Mexican restaurants you have plenty of choices to pick from. My personal favorite place to get tacos from is San Jose. The tacos taste amazing and they are pretty cheap so they won't make you go broke even if you want to get them a couple times a week.

Jules Boutique

If you're addicted to shopping like I am then you love Jules Boutique. They always have the cutest clothes, shoes, and purses no matter what season it is. The staff is always friendly and willing to help you find the perfect outfit for any occasion. Jules is definitely one of my favorite places to shop.

So maybe Goshen is not all that bad of a place to live after all. We have lots of places to can visit. We might have to make our own fun sometimes because things close early, but you can just drive around or go to Walmart. It might be small, but that just means there will always be a familiar face to say, "Hi," to.

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
