The world we live in today is filled with beer lovers. Whether they’re in the United States or in Germany, there are millions of people that drink beer regularly. One of the biggest hot spots for beer drinkers is Chicago, Illinois. Chicago is home to a variety of breweries from Lagunitas to Revolution. There’s a large variety of breweries here and one that has continued to make their mark across the world is Goose Island. They brew a variety of beers, bourbons, and wines that stand out in the saturated industry we know today. Goose Island was founded by John Hall in 1988 and they are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year!
Goose Island has a presence in every part of the city of Chicago. They host events all around the city and can be found in some of your favorite spots. For such an important celebration, Goose Island could not take this year lightly. They’ve planned several events and created new brews for their home city of Chicago to taste and partake in. It’s no surprise that Goose Island wanted to make this celebration a special one.
They kicked it off on May 11th with RJ Grunts’ 30th-anniversary celebration in Lincoln Park West. RJ’s has some of the city’s most killer burgers and dining experiences you can find! The next day was a very special event for Goose Island. At their Brewhouse on Clybourne, they hosted an event called “A beer with John and John” (Goose Island founder John Hall and John Keeling from Fuller’s Brewery). After watching videos of John Hall speak, I bet this event was super cool to attend. They finished the week off at the Crosstown Classic where Hall threw the first pitch!
They continued some of the events on May 17th at Concord Music Hall. Goose Island hosted Action Bronson for a free concert as a celebration. The RSVP link online was submitted by thousands of people but Concord can only fit roughly 1,500. From the looks of it, this event was a huge success and a great way for Goose Island to continue their 30th celebration. The weekend of May 19th-20th was also filled with events from their 30th-anniversary Pub Crawl to the Battle of the Breweries Dodgeball Tournament.
The Battle of the Breweries tournament is actually the 5th time they’ve participated for Illinois Craft Beer Week. The craft beer week hosted numerous events in celebration of Illinois’ Craft Beers. It was the perfect time to host these events because so many beer lovers can come together for a variety of things to choose from.
As you can see, Goose Island did a fantastic job planning an eventful month for their 30th celebration. From the Action Bronson concert to the Battle of the Breweries, there was something for all beer lovers to do. Just because I mentioned events for Goose Island’s 30th-anniversary events, does not mean they don’t host other events. They actually do events all of the time at their locations and many others as well. Check out their website to stay up to date with what they have going on.
