After all these months dealing with the grueling summer heat, I feel like most of us are ready to move on into the cooler temperatures known as Fall. I know that growing up in Texas, we will most likely be dealing with these high temperatures going well into October just like it's been every year, but one can dream, right? Moving into fall not only means goodbye to the scorching weather, but also a change in atmosphere, fashion choices, and of course in food.
The first thing that excites me about Fall is the Fall Semester. The chance to be back in Austin- my second home- being given the chance to gain new knowledge, make new experiences and friends and of course, to reconnect with the friends that I made the year before. It's been an amazing, experience-filled summer, but it is time for me to get back to my home away from home. (St. Ed's, I'll be seeing you and your beautiful campus very soon!)
I would also like to state that I am guilty of having already bought clothing for the fall and winter months. There are just so many cute outfits to wear that are just not meant for boiling hot summer days! Clothes like super comfy leggings, tall boots, and big sweaters; any girl's fall experience checklist. Summer is all about staying cool with the appropriate clothing, but it gets a bit old after a few months.
One of my personal favorites is the new additions to the seasonal foods. Foods such as s'mores, tea, hot cocoa, and anything with cinnamon and pumpkin. Being on the verge of fall just makes me think even more of the baked goods that should be enjoyed either indoors next to a fireplace, or outdoors next to a self-made bonfire. As I like to think of it, the cooler the weather, the sweeter the treats.
After months of having fun in the sun, I feel like it's about time that we trade that cool pool for a warm bonfire. I can certainly assure you that you'll be finding me roasting marshmallows and making s'mores, enjoying that cool fall breeze next to some pretty cool friends.
So thank you, Summer, for all the fun, memories, and tan lines, but I think it's about time that you take a break and let the Fall breeze take over for now. It's okay, we'll be expecting you again next summer!
