A Goodbye To My Favorite Song

Always My Favorite You'll Be

A Goodbye To My Favorite Song

Falling in love with you was like finding your new favorite song.

The first time you listen to the song, you let every word hit you with no second thoughts. You listen to the way the melody pulls on the words so gently and lets them fly throughout the chorus. I'll listen to a song on repeat for hours if I love it so much. The words will be memorized within two days, just so I can have the joy of singing along at the top of my lungs. Falling in love with you was just this way, gentle and earnest.

But it was never the love you had to try at, it was like finding a job that makes you happy everyday. Where trying too hard was never a necessity, it was purely effortless. When your hand rested in mine I knew it was something you couldnt find twice, the missing piece to my puzzle. The thing that I needed for the rest of my days.

I remember the feeling of looking over at you in the driver seat in your pick-up, the way your smile came so easily and your head would bob gently to the rhythm of the song. I remember the excitement pounding through my chest when I would see you round the corner. The look in your eyes when I dressed up for something important. There are some things you can't find in people, but I found them all in you.

But the problem with loving a song so hard, so fast? You wear it out, till one day you just can't listen to the words with the same excitement anymore, the same passion. You keep it on your playlist, without the same appreciation for it and sometimes you even begin to skip over it.

Falling in love with you, was a walk in the park, a summer breeze on a hot day, and the feeling of hot chocolate warming your chest on a cold one. Something Ill always appreciate and never think less of. And for that Im forever thankful, and our song will always be my favorite.

Songs are easy to let go, people are not.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
