Goodbye Sophomore Year, Hello Summer

You were an interesting year, to say the least, but I'm happy you're over.

We had some ups and we had some downs. You taught me a lot and helped me grow into who I am today.

To sophomore year:

I won't miss waking up and going to classes that give pointless lectures when I can learn it by myself online.

I won't miss sharing a bedroom... or a bathroom.

I won't miss trying to cook for myself.

I won't miss spending money on food because I messed up the food I tried to cook myself.

I won't miss missing my family.

I won't miss studying.

I won't miss the friends I lost.

I won't miss the shin splints from walking all the way across to the opposite side of this huge campus.

I won't miss overcrowded libraries.

I won't miss taking the bus.

I won't miss a twin size bed.

However,

I will miss the friends I made.

I will miss the freedom with being away from home.

I will miss all the parties.

I will miss the college atmosphere.

I will miss my boyfriend.

I will miss discovering new things around campus.

To summer:

I'm excited to have a break from studying.

I'm excited to eat mangos and watermelon.

I'm excited about fireworks.

I'm excited for it to be light outside at 9PM.

I'm excited to wear shorts.

I'm excited to tan.

I'm excited to go to the beach.

I'm excited to eat ice cream.

I'm excited to drive with the windows down.

I'm excited about everyone's seasonal depression to be over.

I'm excited about sunshine.

I'm excited for barbecues.

I'm excited to see all the flowers.

I'm excited to relax.

I'm excited to be happy.

I'm excited to see what you have in store for me.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
