This week it was announced that Jack's Cafe on George Street will be closing on Halloween this year. We all knew that it was closing but thought it to be in November or December and even that was too soon.
Jack's Cafe, in my opinion, was a hidden treasure. Many people didn't know about it or if they did, they didn't go in but once you entered you hardly ever passed it up. How could you? It was the only restaurant that had that eclectic diner feel in Downtown Charleston, and right by campus at that.
I can't tell you how many cups of coffee, hashbrowns, fried eggs and grilled cheeses that I've had at that place. Going there in between classes to study, catching up with old friends, grabbing a coffee and biscuit before class, or even just going there to go is something that I will truly miss.
Jack's Cafe is a great place, and I encourage everyone to go in this last week to experience something that I have never found and may never find again in Charleston.
