Freeform has just announced that they're canceling "Harry Potter" weekends, and it's not okay.
Like a lot of people, I grew up loving Harry Potter. I read the books so many times that the covers fell off and I had to buy a completely new set. I would watch the movies every night until I fell asleep. Whenever it was a "Harry Potter" weekend, the T.V. was mine.
All of that has changed. Wands up, everyone. It's time to mourn this tragic loss.
Although it's safe to say most "Harry Potter" fans own all the movies, if you watch them on DVD, it just isn't the same. "Harry Potter" weekends feature all eight films and included deleted scenes. These weekends had more content than the movies being sold in stores.
These weekends happened frequently and became a constant on the Freeform channel. Nine times out of ten if you flipped the TV to Freeform, "Harry Potter" would be on. Without any warning, Freeform has snatched that opportunity away. They might as well have obliviated us. It would've been less painful.
Freeform has yet to announce what they'll be replacing with the "Harry Potter" weekends. It's obvious they'll never find something with the same entertainment value, but they'll try their best.
Regardless of these weekends being canceled, I've enjoyed growing up and watching Harry, Ron, and Hermione go on countless adventures together. I'll miss these weekends with them terribly, but I'll never forget them.
