I think we can all agree, every year comes with ups and downs. I figured with the new year around the corner, I would reflect back on my 2016 year, and some of the ups and downs I have experienced. However, each and every event has made me into the person I am today. And for that, I am grateful. Something great or an "up" that had happened was in the summer of 2016. I took a leap of faith and accepted a job at a day camp as part of the rep theater team. I was a little unsure how it was going to go. I had been out of the camp world for a while, and didn't know if I was making the right choice. Plus, this camp had been around for a very long time, and a lot of the staff had become like family to one another. How would an outsider fit in? The unknown and taking risks has never been a favorite of mine. However, it turned out to be an amazing and life changing summer. I was accepted into a great group of people, that I hope to keep in touch with beyond the camp season. Sadly, the camp had its final summer this year. What I didn't know was how it was going to affect me. I didn't understand why when I was finally meeting new people, and things were going great, why it had to be taken away. But what the summer of 2016 has taught me was that even though the camp is no longer there, the bonds I had made will not go away. Another thing that 2016 has brought me is this May, I will finally earn my bachelors degree. This achievement which seemed unreachable, is happening in a matter of months. I feel very accomplished, and still in disbelief that this day will be here before I know it. Joining the Delaware Valley University community really restored my hopes for my education, and has brought me not only success in my academics, but bonds with people that I am very thankful for. I don't really want to go into detail about the challenges or "downs" I have faced this year. The reason for that is, I would like to now in the upcoming year look at these roadblocks I have overcome, and think that I have found positive detours. All in all, 2016 was an interesting year to say the least. They say that "You don't know how strong you are until being strong is the only option you have." -Bob Marley. This quote is something I have lived by this year, and I think I am finally ready to let it go. I look forward to saying goodbye to 2016, and welcoming 2017 with hopes of; new people, new adventures, and a stronger me. To those reading this, have a very happy new year!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
