I enjoy the fresh air of nature and the clear skies on a sunny day of summer. I like to say that festivals are awesome. You meet new people, you eat new food and you discover new things about the area. That is what the St. Louis World's Fare is all about.

The St. Louis World's Fare is an annual event that started three years ago that brings people from all over the St. Louis County together to rediscover the rich heritage of St. Louis. The festival features all the highlights of the culture of today in the city. The goal of this festival was to celebrate the 1904 World's Fair that put St. Louis on the map. Their goal was to revive the spirit of the people in St. Louis County by bringing different elements to the festival — like art, music, business, and food.

I did enjoy myself walking around the festival and its attractions. I ate the food from local restaurants and bought stuff the local stores in the city were selling. I discovered different organizations around the city and what they stand for.

If I have to choose my favorite moment in the festival is was to be hearing the inspiring words of Mike Landau one of the organizers of the event.

He said, “The reason that we are doing this is quite simple. It is not because of us or to make us any bigger. Right now, this city is a very special place and a lot of people don’t know that. So what we are doing here is very simple. We are bringing people together; we are utilizing this amazing, beautiful park to do it because everybody takes ownership of this park. It doesn’t matter if you live in Chesterfield or Saint Charles, North of St. Louis or South of St. Louis. Forest Park is yours. Everybody loves this park; everybody believes in this park. It is just gorgeous.”

Festival are always a good way to help a community unite.

When it comes to Bloomington-Normal, there are many outstanding factors that any Illinois State student can say are unique to our college town (and maybe others too). Proud or not, we Redbirds know all the ins and outs of Blono.

1. The wait for Buffalo Wild Wings is always going to be long on Thursday nights.

As hard as we try, it's nearly impossible to resist the 69-cent wings on a college student budget. Plus, they are always delicious!
