It's almost everyone's favorite time of year! The time of bonfires, pumpkin spice everything, sweaters, and most importantly, Halloween. Now everyone has their own special reasons for enjoying the holiday but one of my favorite things to do as a kid was watching all of the old school Halloween movies creep onto every channel. Just in case you don't remember, here are the movies you grew up on that might help you get into the Halloween spirit.
1. "The Haunted Mansion"
Eddie Murphey screaming and crying from the confusing and terrifying world of spirits while also trying to protect and supply for his family, yeah sign me up.
2. "Twitches"
This gave every girl hope that one day they would find their twin and discover something extraordinary about themselves.
3. "Halloweentown"
If you didn't want to be in "Twitches", you definitely wanted a grandma like Debbie Reynolds in this spooky world.
4. "Hocus Pocus"
A classic that never gets old, unlike these three witches who scower the earth for children's souls.
5. "Carrie"
Definitely not a movie I was brave enough to watch until high school but still a good thriller to get you into the scary mood.
6. "Beetlejuice"
A family movie, with a stretch, that shows the ghoulish and devilish beetlejuice always up to no good in order to get what he wants most.
7. "The Addams Family"
It does not have to be October for this family to celebrate their favorite time of year. The Addams were definitely a family favorite all across the country.
8. "Young Frankenstein"
A spin-off comedic special on all that goes wrong with the originial Frankenstein.
9. "Corpse Bride"
Tim Burton was certainly the face of Halloween while growing up, and you could bet most children were watching his movies late when they should have been in bed.
10. "Ghostbusters"
A classic movie that doesn't leave the audience too afraid but worth the sit down and bowl of popcorn none the less.
11. "Casper"
The friendliest ghost you will ever know is back again with classic movie where he crushes on the new lively girl in town.
12. "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
From the beautiful songs and relatable themes, this movie is certainly one that can be watched all year long.
13. "The Little Vampire"
A young boy discovers that his favorite mythical monsters are not so mythical and wants to help his new best friend find peace and mortality.
Whether these movies make it to your binging list this Halloween and fall season, make sure to catch up on some old school movies you may have forgotten. Just because you are not as young these days, doesn't mean these movies won't give you the same nostalgia and excitement for the season like they once did.
