The term friend can be defined as a person whom one knows, likes, and trusts. While that is true, we throw the term "friend" around so loosely. On a daily basis it may not occur to you, but when you look back and think about a good friend they are truly so much more than a "friend."

1. Your Creative Outlet

When you're with your friends, you feel so free to express yourself. Knowing they won't judge you, you allow yourself to access your creativity.

2. Your Honesty

In such a confusing world you can always rely on a good friend to always be honest with you, no matter how hard it may be.

3. Your Shoulder to Cry On

Even if that honesty hurts you, they will always be there for you afterwards to help you through it.

4. Your Role Model

As the phrase says, "you are who you surround yourself with." Make sure you are surrounding yourself with friends who you can look up to, not pull you down.

5. Your #1 Fan

As they are your role models, they view you as one of theirs and are always there to support you. Whether it's being the first to comment heart-eyes on your selfie on Instagram or cheering them on that your game, they're there.

6. Your Humanity

Friends know that you are only human and that you mess up sometimes. But, they're always there to remind you to just laugh it off.

7. Your Sightseer

Whether it is a twenty minute car ride to just get out of the house or it's a mini vacation to explore, you can always count on having your friends by your side.

8. Your Stress Reliever

School is stressing you out? Go grab a coffee with a good friend. Life in general is stressing you out? Go have a movie night with your friends and laugh and just forget about the rest of it for awhile. I swear you'll feel better.

9. Your Roller-coaster

While friendship can be all of these warm and fuzzy feelings, they can also be a roller-coaster with it's ups and down. It's normal to see the "downs" and get into little tiffs with your friends every once in a while, it means you feel comfortable enough to express how you really feel with them. It also makes the "ups" mean a lot more.

10. Your On-Call Therapist

You could be calling be at 3:30 in the afternoon because you're crying over the test you just failed or 3:30 in the morning because you're crying over the mood you just can't get out of. But, they'll always answer.

11. Your Stone

They'll be a strong a stone for you and stand up for you no matter what.

12. Your Rock

A friend will always be the rock you can depend on to be there for you.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about.
