Sometimes, life just seems to throw you challenge after challenge you simply don’t want to take on, yet find the guts and push through it. You are good enough, good enough to prove to the world that you are more than a GPA or a shiny resume. You are equipped with your own badass traits that make you unique. You should be damn proud of those things. Embrace the overwhelming challenges and test them with outstanding triumphs. Prove anyone who ever doubted you that YOU can do anything you put your mind to — no matter how many times someone tells you to give up. Dream bigger than yourself and show that a little ambition and drive can take you to high, beautiful places.
Unfriend those who limit you. Befriend those who never stop reminding you that you are good enough. Anyone in your life, whether it be friends, family, or educational professionals, who deliberately diminish your dreams and ambitions have no room being there to watch you prove them wrong. No matter if you were born with a physical, mental, or emotional disability — that doesn’t make you any less of a person. It sure as hell doesn’t restrict you from reaching for the stars.
As someone who was diagnosed young with dyslexia, I am constantly under pressure from college professors telling me lowering my goals for after college would be the safer option. But I’m done with safe. I’m done with lowering my expectations for myself simply because someone who I looked at as an educational mentor told me to. I’m 100% done with living under the shadow of my average GPA. You are good enough; we are all good enough to do anything we want. All you need is the support of your own strength and how hard you’re willing to work for what you want. To all the beautiful people who never had a say in the way their lives turned out — look inside yourself and realize you can change your own path. It’s never too late.
