It's no secret that some beauty trends stay trendy for years, while others are here one day and gone the next. With that being said, sometimes it's hard to keep track of what trends are worth latching onto, and which ones are better left for yesterday. I decided to make a list of 10 beauty trends that I personally think should stay in the limelight and 10 trends that really need to hit the road.

(*Disclaimer: These are just my personal opinions, so take my advice with a grain of salt.)

 1. Classic Red Lips

Who doesn't love a good, sexy, empowering red lip? I know that every time I put on my favorite shade of red lipstick I feel like I can take on the world. Classic red lips will never go out of style.

2. Bold, Captivating Lip Colors (The Good Side Of This Trend)

To me, there is both a positive and a negative side to these bold and captivating lip colors. The positive side is that there are some shades of these colors that look dazzling on just about everyone — here's to you reds, purples, and pinks. The bad side of these bold colors will be discussed in the "10 Beauty Trends That Need To Go" section.

3. Lip Gloss.

That's right, your junior high beauty trend is making a comeback, and it's bringing back all of the '90s nostalgia with it! Just check your Insta feed and you'll find clear indication that lip-gloss is back in style.

4. Tinted Eyeliners

Who doesn't love a little pop of color above or below the eyelid?

5. Setting Sprays And Powders

Where would we be without these?

6. Beauty Blenders

These are literal lifesavers when it comes to easy makeup application.

7. Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel is making a comeback. You heard that right, the staple beauty item that you probably found in your grandma's bathroom cabinet is here to stay!

8. CBD-Infused Skincare Products (The Good Side of This Trend)

The good side to these products is their natural calming effect and the fact that most of the ingredients in them are natural.

9. The Eco-Friendly Factor

  1. Giphy

It's 2019 and it's time that more beauty brands start caring about their carbon footprint, and some well-established brands have done just that — score for being environmentally conscious!

10. Ingredient Transparency

Not only are major beauty brands becoming more conscious of their carbon footprint, but they are also starting to realize that consumers everywhere want to know the exact formulas and ingredients that go into the products that they put on their face.

Now that we've gone through the trends that absolutely have to stay trendy, it's time to discuss the trends that need to get left behind.

10 Beauty Trends That Need To Go:

1. The "Glossy" Makeup Look

Look, I'm all for trying out the newest skincare craze, but I personally think the glossy makeup look is overdone. In my opinion, nothing beats the matte look.

2. Bold, Captivating Lip Colors (The Downside Of This Trend)

As I said in the previous section, I'm all for lip colors that look good on virtually anyone, but some of these bold lip colors just look plain ridiculous, take neon green or yellow for example. Seriously, I personally think that those bright fluorescent colors belong to classroom highlighters only, and not in the beauty world.

3. Mega-Bright Eye Shadows

Some of these pigments and colors that are new on the market are actually stunning and to die for, but some bring back scary Junior High school amateur makeup memories. I'm looking at you, awfully-pigmented blue eye shadow!

4. All-Over Body Glow

I personally think that this trend is also overdone, but I will say that a little sun-kissed glow is absolutely stunning. However, an overdone all-over body glow isn't my cup of tea.

5. False Lashes (For Everyday Wear)

Let me clarify my point here so I don't cause an uproar: I will champion 100% for a bold and captivating falsie, but the trend of "let's wear dramatic-looking lashes 24/7" has to go. Everyone is beautiful in his or her own way, and shaking things up every now and again is essential, but wearing falsies every day is a trend that I've seen and that I am so over.

6. Eyebrow Microblading

Call me old fashioned, but in my opinion, a good pair of eyebrow tweezers beats scheduling a microblading session any day. I've never understood the craze of this trend, and I honestly think that this one is better left in yesteryear.

7. Gold-Infused Face Masks

OK, so, I've had friends that are well versed in the skincare field, and they've all said that these gold-infused masks don't do any more good for the skin than regular face masks do. In my opinion, nothing beats a good avocado and oatmeal mask!

8. Walnut Scrubs

I'm not going to name names or mention brands here, but these products are actually horrible for your skin, especially if their formula is crap.

9. CBD-Infused Skincare Products (The Downside Of This Trend)

Quite frankly, the only downside I see to these products is the opinions of the small percentage of today's population that see anything related to cannabis products and think, "Oh, it must be weed-related! Oh wow, that's so awful!" Come on guys, it's 2019, not everything related to cannabis is "bad."

10. Liquid Exfoliators

OK, so maybe I'm not particularly well-versed in this trend, but something about these products just doesn't sit right with me.

And there you have it! I hope you found this list of beauty trends that should stay and beauty trends that should go to be entertaining. If not, at least you got a halfway decent commentary on the beauty industry!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
