The Golf Wang Fashion Show: An Anti-Runway Runway

The Golf Wang Fashion Show is an event that I've had on my radar for the past couple weeks. Rapper Tyler, the Creator and his collective Odd Future have always given me angst-y music to whine to ever since I was in high school five years ago. I remember bumping one of Tyler the Creator's earliest albums "Goblin" all throughout my endless hours riding on the school bus. I'll always be indebted to him for getting me through those frustrating times. But I never would have thought at that moment that this controversial rapper would become a fashion designer. But he has, and he's a dope one at that!

Now I'm not the biggest runway fashion fan, but watching this fashion show made me become a believer.

The scenery was absolutely beautiful and filled with eye-catching colors. Flowers bloomed all along the runway. A video-capture of the sky laid above the models. And the music, oh man, the music. It was incredibly chill and made me do my Googles the moment the fashion show was over.

(It was Alabama Shakes, A.K.A my new favorite band.)

A lot of the outfits inspired me and made me want to dish out my wallet, but one of the most striking pieces for me was the pink and blue all-over print GOLF robe.

Tyler rocked it in a skit before the show, but he also rocked it on the runway later on. I thought it was incredibly eye-catching and showed a strong sense of Tyler's eclectic aesthetic. I adored it.

Most of the other outfits were clear in their goal to take you away to a different, happier place.

I was surely happier watching this fashion show than I would be watching others. Usually when I end up watching fashion shows, they seem incredibly uptight. They take themselves too seriously. Tyler's fashion show was a carefree, welcoming utopia. I feel like I could just hop, skip, and jump into their world, and it looked like a place that I wanted to be.

Through this fashion show, I was able to take Tyler's pipe fashion dreams more seriously. He is a super creative individual, and one of the most underrated rappers in the hip hop game. He has his hands in a bunch of different things (TV, music, fashion, etc.) and he isn't praised as much as he should be. His fashion show is only the latest of his many successes. I can't wait to see what Tyler the Creator dives into next.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
