On June 30, 2018, my family adopted a five-month-old golden retriever and named him Walter. He has become my best friend in the entire world. We love to play together, go on long walks, but our favorite thing to do is to take naps together and snuggle. I couldn't imagine not having him as apart of our family. If you're thinking about adopting a dog but are unsure about which breed is best for you, look no further because it just may be a golden retriever.

1. They always want to snuggle and they love kisses.

I'm not sure exactly what it is about golden retrievers that makes them love affection, but I'm not going to question it. They always have to be touching you or you have to be touching them, with maybe a hug and kiss, or two, in between.

2. They love every season and make the cutest models.

Whether it's sunny and 75 degrees, snowing or a crisp fall day, Walter loves playing outside. He enjoys finding random sticks and chasing leaves as they blow in the wind.

3. You can take them on any car ride.

My dog absolutely loves being in the car. He will start by looking out the window and enjoying the breeze, to eventually falling asleep... Even in the most uncomfortable looking positions.

4. They absolutely love playing in water!

A kiddie pool, lake, sprinkler, or even hose water, golden retrievers will always have a good time in the water!

6. They want to be friends with everyone they meet!

I have never seen a happier dog, than a golden retriever. They are always smiling and loving, they even make the goofiest faces sometimes. When my dog is super happy, he likes to let his tongue hang out of the side of his mouth.

8. Walks are always a must.

It doesn't matter how far we walk or when we walk, my dog loves being outside. It's beneficial for the both of us, in so many different ways. But ultimately, it's something that is fun and active we can do together.

9. Playing fetch is their favorite pastime.

My dog adores tennis balls and likes to see how many he can hold at a time. He can't help but retrieve whenever one of his toys is thrown, he has to run as fast as he can to get it.
