It's a new year. You know what that means... new years resolutions!! (Did you cringe as much as I did just now?)

The most common new years resolutions always seem to include exercising. That means going to the gym is a much bigger ordeal than it was a few months ago. One of my favorite things about going to the gym on campus was the fact that I could always count on my secret spot to be empty. I could lift my little weights in peace and solitude. I could always find an empty locker to put my stuff in. I could also run on the track without having to follow traffic laws. Don't get me wrong. I didn't get perfect attendance for the gym last semester. But, I did go frequently enough to notice a difference.

Now that it's January, my secret spot has been infiltrated. Finding a locker is hit and miss. If I'm running on the track... well slow traffic keep right... I'm excited that everyone is being healthy and taking care of their bodies. However, I won't be complaining when February rolls around and I have a little more breathing room.

Props to you, Aggies, for hitting the gym so hard. With facilities so great on campus, I'm surprised it isn't this packed all year round.

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
