My name is Crystal and I will be going into my second year at Woodbury University. We are a private school located in Burbank, California, but we are often forgotten because of other big universities like USC and UCLA.
Fun Fact: USC opened 2 weeks before we did, so we are the second oldest school in Southern California. Our school has been on different TV shows and commercials because of the location. Once you start going here you realize that the size does not matter and if people do not know about the school.
Going to a small school does not mean that our education is better or worse. But I do think one major perk of going to a small school is the attention that each professor is able to give to individual students. We are constantly told to challenge anyone that we come into contact with whether it is a professor or a peer.
I wanted to write this list of unique features of Woodbury because all of these contribute to why I love this school. This school would not be the same without our random deer, or the constant ghost stories you hear of mother Cabrini. Yes we have fun like other college students but our idea of fun is definitely different from someone who goes to a bigger school.
We have one big family like culture but we also have mini cultures within majors so you are always a part of a bigger goal. We may not have "normal" college stuff like sports or a Starbucks on campus but that does not take from the significance of our school. Yes we are small and unknown at times but I can guarantee you that once I graduate from here that I will be ready to challenge and to be challenged.
