Growing up I never thought I would fall in love with a women's college. Most of my friends were guys and I just seemed to get along better with them. However, when it came time to choose where I wanted to go to college, it was an easy choice. I've always wanted to attend Meredith College and it's the best decision I've ever made.
Truth: The Strength of the Sisterhood
The biggest thing that I've learned about attending a women's college is that without men, women don't feel the need to tear each other down. Women's colleges erase societies need to pit women against each other. The sense of community and, as cliche as it sounds, sisterhood is so prevalent and I've met some of the most amazing women in college.
Lie: Everyone is Preppy
I'll be the first to admit that there are definitely some preppy girls, but that's only a small fraction of the student body. There's a diverse group of women. There's girls interested in theatre, in sports, in history, in science, who love anime, who love volunteering, who advocate for the environment, and for black rights, and for lgbt rights, and so many more. There's bound to be a group for every type of individual.
Truth: The Education is the Best
Small class sizes allows for more one on one interactions with the professors. The biggest class I ever took was Introduction to Psychology with 49 students, but the majority of my general education classes have about 25-30 students. Professors get to know you and genuinely care about your education, not just in research and writing another book. I've grown so much academically because of the passion of my professors.
