So things are going pretty well for you. You’ve had a very relaxing break, saw your old friends and had some fun at home. The holidays were great and you got to catch up with your relatives and see what everyone at home was up to while you were away. Three weeks into break, school is the absolute farthest thing from your mind. You've been spending lazy days in bed, binge watching your favorite shows, and eating food that isn't from the dining hall. At the moment, life is fantastic. But then it hits you—you have to go back very soon. You’re not quite sure how you managed to completely forget about school, but you’re horrified at the thought of having to go back and actually do work.
You start attempting to stall your return. What can you say or do to get another week of peace and quiet?
What would actually happen if you simply didn’t go back?
But as your parents pack all your belongings into the car and shuttle you out of your house, you realize there is no way you can get out of going back.Once you are back on campus, you decide you should actually look at your schedule for this semester so you aren’t blindsided Monday morning. You then realize that between classes, activities and your workload, you may not actually have any free time until May.Monday morning rolls around and your alarm goes off at 9 a.m., hours earlier than you have woken up in the last month. It is all you can do not to press “snooze” eight more times before rolling out of bed. You put on your most acceptable pair of sweatpants while wondering how on earth you are going to make it through this day.
Halfway through your day you feel as though you have hit rock bottom. You think that you have never been more exhausted in your life. Your professors have already piled on the work and you’re considering just going back to bed instead of reading 150 pages of philosophy from the 1800s.
But when your classes are finally over, you get to see your friends that you’ve been missing for the last month. Living on opposite sides of the country or even different corners of the world might have made it hard to keep in touch over the break. It is so great to finally be reunited.
You spend a couple hours catching up with them and almost forget about all the things you weren't so excited to return to.
Once you’re back with your gang, you realize that maybe school isn’t so bad after all. You finally feel ready to buckle down and have a fun and productive semester.
