Going Into My Second Year Of College
Kaitlyn Craig

This week, I will be going into my second year of college. I have grown so much over the past year and I have learned how this thing called college works.

Last year was a learning year. I learned new things about "adulting." I learned how college works, and I learned how the life of retail is. My relationship with my boyfriend got stronger this past year due to the distance between us and learning how to work things out. Going into my second year of college, I want to learn more new things and grow more as a person.

This year will be crazy with classes, work and just life itself. I am hoping that this year will be a year full of new opportunities and good changes.

This year, I am going to try my best and stay organized. I always say this every year and accomplish my goal for about two weeks of classes, but this year, my goal is to be organized all year long. We shall see how it goes!

I am going to be majoring in early childhood education. Along with the degree, comes a lot of hours in a classroom. This year I will be taking a class where I have to spend 32 hours inside a classroom setting within the semester. By having a class that is hands on, I will get a taste of what it will be like to be a teacher. I am really excited for all the lessons I will learn during that time!

I have recently quit the job I had last year and I have gotten a new job. I am still learning the ropes and learning new things everyday. My new job is different than my old retail job. I cannot wait to see where my new job will take me in the future.

This semester I will be talking American Sign Language as well. I have always been in awe at the people that can sign. Signing is an art. I cannot wait to learn a different language and learn about the deaf culture. I am hoping by learning a different language I will be able to talk to different people and experience different and new opportunities.

I want this year to be full of great memories and new opportunities. I want to finish off 2016 well and start 2017 off even better than this year. I hope school will be great and I will learn new things and get closer to my goal of becoming a teacher.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.

Tamatoa created a liar filled with shiny things simply for the purpose of tricking fish to enter and become his food. He too experiences a lesson in how easy it is to be tricked by shiny things when Moana distracts him by covering herself in glowing algae so Maui can grab his hook.
